Storing your Electro Arc Metal Disintegrator

Electro Arc Metal Disintegrators are known to last for 50+ years.  This heavy-duty equipment used on-site and in shops and factories tends to see quite a bit of heavy use.  We do recommend wiping down your machine and disintegrating head after each use as a regular maintenance task.  Machines regularly in use will have the coolant replaced often enough not to worry about the effects of storage.  If you will be leaving the metal disintegrator out of use for six months or more, please use the tips provided below to prepare your machine for long term storage and avoid unnecessary repair costs.

Long-term metal disintegrator storage should be planned to avoid damage to your machine.

Flush your coolant pump with a high concentration of water-soluble oil-based coolant to prevent corrosion per your shop’s standards.fr example you can use Electro Arc water primer in a high concentration:

Mix 2 bottles of Electro Arc coolant with 5 gallons of water.

After flushing, empty the coolant tank to avoid corrosion.  Long-term storage with coolant in the tank will cause permanent damage and require the replacement of the coolant tank and pump.

If you are not storing your machine in a climate-controlled environment, store the coolant tank with anti-freeze.

Clean any exposed steel and the table top and oil bare metal to protect it from rusting.

Our DC models have air vent holes that will be large enough for a mouse to get into.  Be sure to evaluate open areas and seal these gaps to prevent wire damage or further damage from rodents.

After a thorough cleaning, cover the machine.
